Shutternalia is a word play on the photography term "shutter" and Saturnalia, that infamous Roman festival which some people say led to Christmas. It's a way for me to celebrate and share my photographs with you.
I started shooting with a film SLR back in the early 90s. But the creative side of it immediately had to take a back seat to just getting acceptable shots of my growing kids. The SLR soon gave way to an APS Point-and-Shoot and casual shooter me happened. I later bought my first digital camera in 2003 - Kodak's DX6490. It took whopping 4 megapixel photos and was pretty much what the casual shooter needed. Never mind the missed shots because of shutter lag.
Then a few years down the line that thing called the big C decided it wanted to get to know my wife better. I lost her in early 2010. Later that year I decided to go for the Canon EOS 450D that a friend was giving up, looking at it as a form of therapy. And thus began my rekindled romance with photography.
I'm an eclectic shooter, but I do find myself happy with portraiture, and loving the rush of motorsports, yet unmistakably awed by nature and landscape photography.
